> Creative Inking is a Gold Coast-based calligraphy and engraving studio run by Alison Curtis. ## About Alison Curtis

Alison Curtis is the founder and sole artist at Creative Inking. She holds a Bachelor of 3D Design from Griffith University and has been practising calligraphy professionally since 2009. Her studio is at 53 Petrel Avenue, Mermaid Beach, Queensland 4218, Australia (near Nobby's Beach on the Gold Coast).

Alison offers scripts including Copperplate, Spencerian, Gothic, and modern calligraphy. She does not replicate another calligrapher's exact style but will suggest scripts suited to the project or event.

### Live Event Calligraphy & On-Site Engraving

Live calligraphy, on-site engraving, foiling, painting and wood burning for luxury retail activations, corporate events, weddings, VIP gifting and private functions. Alison sets up at the venue and personalises items for guests in real time. Popular requests include perfume engraving, bottle engraving, glass engraving, gift tagging and handwritten calligraphy. Table setup, attire and workflow are tailored to the client brief. Additional artists can be arranged for high-volume events.

### Custom Engraving & In-Studio Personalisation

Engraving, hand lettering, bottle painting, hot foiling, wood burning and bespoke personalisation completed in Alison's Mermaid Beach studio. Items can be dropped off or posted.

### Calligraphy Classes & Workshops

Group and private calligraphy classes run from Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast. Current workshop styles:

- Brush Pen Calligraphy ($125-$150, up to 30 guests)
- Pointed Pen Calligraphy ($150-$180, up to 30 guests)
- Watercolour Lettering ($150-$180, up to 30 guests)
- Hand Engraving ($150-$180, up to 3 guests)
- Kids' Brush Lettering ages 10-18 ($100-$120, up to 15 guests)

Private lessons, hens party workshops, birthday experiences, corporate team-building sessions and school groups are available by request. Classes can be booked through ClassBento or by contacting Creative Inking directly.

## Engravable Surfaces

Most glass and metal surfaces, most stainless steel drink bottles, and some plastics. Not suitable for engraving: champagne or other pressurised bottles (paint pen personalisation available instead), or excessively ridged/patterned surfaces. Untested or plastic items may require a test piece first.

## Commissions

Alison accepts commissions for poems, letters and similar pieces. Commissions are generally paused during December due to high live event volume — reach out early for Christmas gifts.

## Items & Sourcing

Creative Inking keeps stock of white and black paper fans, other fan colours, plain and decorative place cards, and occasionally compact mirrors and luggage tags. Custom paper stock products in any shape or size can be sourced to brief. Clients are also welcome to supply their own items.

## Wedding Calligraphy

Creative Inking provides calligraphy for wedding certificates, place cards, envelopes, invitations and other wedding stationery. For wedding certificates, clients should ask their celebrant to post or drop off the certificate. Celebrants can contact Creative Inking directly to offer calligraphy as part of their service.

## Service Area

Based on the Gold Coast, servicing Northern NSW up to the Sunshine Coast for local events. Happy to travel further by arrangement. Regular work across Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and wider Queensland.
